Day 105: Particles by Joey Fehrenbach from Mellowdrama (2006)

As the calendar reminds me, Wednesdays are for downtempo, ambient, trance, and electronic tracks. This is a great track from my own library. I love this whole album for a nice downtempo afternoon.

Here it is.

Day 104: Right Now by Van Halen from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991)

Tuesdays, I've been reminded, are for vintage and classic rock and pop tracks. This is one I've been wanting to post for a while. Such a great reminder of high school and college days.

Here it is.

Day 103: Turning by Tim Be Told from Getting By (2007)

This was a pop find that Pandora made for me recently. I don't think I have ever heard it before. It's catchy and it's got lots of layers. When I listened to it again with the idea of posting it here, I thought it seemed a bit too smooth, too synthetic at first. But I still liked it.

So, without judgment, here it is.

Day 102: Suspension by Bare Naked Statues (St. Louis Univ.) from All Expenses Paid (2010)

I discovered this track just playing around on Grooveshark. It's a cover of a song that I hadn't heard before by a group I hadn't heard before. I listened to the original, and loved it, so I'm planning to do some more exploration of that band. But I think I like this cover just a little better.

Here it is.

Day 101: Liberation Day by Ferras from Aliens and Rainbows (2008)

Summer is here again. Last summer, I started this blog with the hope of discovering and rediscovering great music. After fall rolled around and I got to the landmark of 100 posts, I set the project aside. But  now that summer is back, so am I. Woohoo!

I recently discovered Ferras.  This album - Aliens and Rainbows - came out in 2008, and the whole album is great. I don't know how I never heard it before. It's exactly the kind of music I hoped to discover when I started this project. It's upbeat, creative, and fun.

Here it is.

Day 100: Goodbye Mr. A by The Hoosiers from The Trick to Life

My friend John introduced me to this tune, and it's led me to a lot of other cool songs from the UK. I think it's a suitably up-beat tune to celebrate the 100th post on the blog. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded like a clever cross between modern brit-pop and Wild West Movie saloon music.

By the way, I'm still looking for people who would like to contribute to the blog - whether you just want to provide songs to feature or actually write blog posts. I'd really like this blog to be a more of a conversation among music lovers! And if there's a particular genre you want to work on exclusively, that's cool too. Drop me a line!

Here it is.

[Sunday posts feature whatever I want.]

Day 99: Fix You by Glee Cast from Glee: The Music, Vol. 7

I like the original Coldplay version of this song, but I thought this version was even more poignant. I hope you like it.

Here it is.

Or listen on YouTube.

[Saturday posts feature a capella and choral music.]
